Anglo American plc is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Mining Engineer to join our dynamic team. As a Senior Mining Engineer, you will play a crucial role in the planning, design, and optimization of mining operations. You will be responsible for overseeing various aspects of mining projects, ensuring safety standards, and driving operational excellence.
Responsibilities
- Mining Operations Management:
- Lead and manage mining operations to ensure efficiency, safety, and adherence to environmental standards.
- Develop and implement mining plans, designs, and strategies for optimal resource extraction.
- Project Planning and Execution:
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to plan and execute mining projects within budget and timelines.
- Conduct feasibility studies and risk assessments for new mining ventures.
- Safety and Compliance:
- Uphold and enforce safety protocols and regulations to ensure a secure working environment.
- Monitor compliance with local and international mining laws and standards.
- Technical Expertise:
- Provide technical expertise in mine planning, geotechnical engineering, and ore reserve estimation.
- Utilize advanced software tools for mine design and modeling.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering or a related field.
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng) or equivalent certification.
- Advanced degree (Master’s or PhD) in Mining Engineering is a plus.
Experience
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in mining engineering with a proven track record in project management.
- Extensive experience in open-pit and underground mining operations.
Skills
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in mine design and planning software (e.g., Surpac, MineSight).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Communication:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to convey complex technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
- Leadership:
- Proven leadership skills with the ability to manage and motivate a diverse team.
