Responsibilities
- Packaging Design: Develop and optimize packaging solutions that meet customer requirements for protection, cost-efficiency, and sustainability.
- Material Selection: Evaluate and select appropriate packaging materials, considering factors such as product compatibility, environmental impact, and cost-effectiveness.
- Testing and Validation: Conduct package performance tests and analyze data to ensure packaging meets quality and safety standards.
- Cost Management: Identify cost-saving opportunities in packaging materials and processes without compromising product integrity.
- Sustainability Initiatives: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive sustainability efforts, including reducing waste and promoting recyclability.
- Regulatory Compliance: Stay up-to-date with packaging regulations and ensure compliance in design and materials.
- Collaboration: Work closely with product development, marketing, and manufacturing teams to align packaging with product strategies and goals.
- Continuous Improvement: Implement lean and continuous improvement principles to enhance packaging processes and reduce waste.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Packaging Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field (Master's preferred).
- Proven experience in packaging design and development, preferably in a manufacturing or consumer goods industry.
- Strong understanding of packaging materials, manufacturing processes, and sustainability principles.
- Proficiency in computer-aided design (CAD) software and packaging simulation tools.
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements for packaging, including FDA, ISO, and environmental standards.
- Excellent problem-solving and project management skills.
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
Experience
- Minimum 3-5 years of relevant experience in packaging engineering.
- Experience with design software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) and packaging testing equipment.
- Previous exposure to sustainable packaging practices is a plus.
